Africa’s youngest billionaire and Tanzanian businessman Mohammed Dewji on October 11
2018, was kidnapped, by gunmen in Tanzania’s economic capital Dar es Salaam,
officials said.
Dewji, who
is 43, heads the MeTL Group which operates in about 10 countries with interests
in agriculture to insurance, transport, logistics, and the food industry, was
snatched when entering the gym of an hotel in the city.
According to BBC, while the reason for the abduction is still unclear,
investigation is ongoing and three people have been arrested in connection with
the incident and two of the abductors were believed to be foreign nationals.
